Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
